The Story of Jeremy Anderson and Legato Lutherie

Legato Lutherie began with Jeremy Anderson's quest for a superior quality guitar. He started playing guitar in high school on a beat up 1970's student guitar. That same summer he started work in his dad's machine shop, to pay for college. While reading GUITARMAKING: Tradition & Technology, by William Compiano, he decided to try to build his own guitar.

Jeremy didn't live very far from the renowned guitarbuilder, James Olson. A friend arranged a meeting for Jeremy with Jim Olson at his shop. Upon entering the shop the first tool he saw was a Fadal machining center, a machine just like the one Jeremy worked on every day in his dad's shop.

During a break from college he attended Bryan Galloup's School of Guitar Repair, completing two guitars while attending the journeymen's program. Bryan is a master of guitarbuilding and repair, but especially of restoration of vintage instruments. The knowledge and skills gained from Jeremy's time spent in training with Bryan have proved invaluable.

Jeremy Anderson, Luthier

Today Jeremy continues to work as a machinist while building guitars part time. He completes approximately half a dozen custom guitars per year. Legato Lutherie currently offers custom guitars based on ten classically inspired designs.
